The duty most landlords have never heard of
Right to Rent checks, referencing, bank details, a guarantor’s finances. That is a significant amount of personal data about several people, and the obligations attach to you whether or not you have thought about them.
What the notice covers
What you hold, why you hold it, how long you keep it, who you share it with, and what rights the tenant has over it. The referencing agency and the deposit scheme are both third parties you share with.
Getting it out
Build it and send it with the move-in pack, where it is logged like every other document. The point at which you are collecting the most data is the point the notice is supposed to arrive.
Why it is worth two minutes
This is a duty with a regulator attached, and it is one of the few where doing it properly costs nothing at all.
