What the file needs
Three columns must be present in some form: the first line of the address, the town or city, and the postcode. The importer matches on the heading text and accepts the obvious variations, so address, address line 1 and street all land in the same place.
What else it will take if you have it
- Monthly rent
- Gas Safety, EICR and EPC expiry dates
- EPC rating
Columns it does not recognise are ignored and listed back to you by name, so nothing is silently dropped. Rows with a problem are reported individually with the reason, and the rest of the file still imports. You do not lose a hundred good rows to one bad postcode.
What it does not import
Rent history. The importer takes the current rent figure, not a ledger of past payments. If you are arriving from another platform with years of transactions, export them and keep the file: the rent ledger here starts from the date you begin recording.
If you have no export
There is a template on the import screen with every column filled in and three example rows, covering a single let, an HMO and a commercial unit. Overwrite the examples with your own.
