Why we will not give you a date
Because plenty of sites will, and the dates they give are guesses dressed as facts. A commencement date exists when it is made, not when it is announced as an intention. Planning your year around a date that moves is worse than having no date.
What the page is for
It holds what you will need when the duty commences, so that registering is an afternoon rather than a scramble. Most of it is information you already have recorded against your properties.
What to do now
Nothing urgent. Keep your property records accurate, which you are doing anyway, and you will be registering from a database rather than from a filing cabinet.
How you will know
We track commencement and update the page when it changes, rather than leaving a stale prediction sitting there.
