Checking a company tenant
When a tenant on a current tenancy is recorded as a company with its company number, the Tenancy tab shows Check on Companies House. The answer gives the company’s status, registered office and date of incorporation as the register shows them, with the day it was read, and says so if the register gives a different name from the one on the tenancy. Anyone who can change the property can check; anyone who can see the tenancy sees the answer.
The nightly check
Companies House is asked again each night while the let is current. If the company goes into administration, liquidation or receivership, enters a voluntary arrangement or insolvency proceedings, has a proposal to strike it off, or is dissolved or closed, an item appears in the bell and the account owner is emailed. Nothing on your records is changed. A property locked on the free plan is not checked.
Your own company’s filing dates
If you let through a limited company, add its company number in Settings, under Integrations, in Your company on Companies House. An agency’s owner or an admin adds the agency’s on Agency compliance. The next accounts and confirmation statement due dates on the register then show in the bell from 30 days before each is due, and an email reminder comes 30 days and 7 days before, and if one is overdue. For an agency, the email goes to its owner.
What is read
Only the company’s own entry on the register is read, never its officers or the people with significant control. It is on every plan, in your own account and in an agency workspace.
