Step 1: get your data out
Arthur’s help centre says it will email you all your data as a series of CSV files, which do not include documents, notes or messages. Its terms allow you to export your data for 60 days after the contract ends (both checked 6 October 2026). Ask before you give notice, and download certificates, agreements and photos yourself.
Step 2: bring the portfolio in
Open Properties, choose Import and upload a CSV: one row per tenant, or per room for an HMO, with the address, town and postcode, rent, deposit and certificate dates. Arthur’s exports will need their columns tidied into one sheet first; the importer matches headings, not their order.
Step 3: certificates and documents
Drop the certificate files in as a batch and the dates are read from each one. Upload signed agreements and other documents to each property.
Step 4: rent and tax
Set up rent by Direct Debit, and import bank statements as CSV for this tax year. If you send Making Tax Digital updates, add the year since 6 April before your first update, because each one covers the year so far.
Timing
Arthur’s contracts renew automatically, so check your renewal date before you start.
